Winter/Christmas/Seasonal beers, the long awaited second installment

So, as promised here’s the second and final batch of Winter beers, just in time for you to pick some up before everywhere shuts down. Well, almost everywhere and eh, just for a day or two.
I am partial to the odd Erdinger, it’s a good fallback beer and is widely available. The Schneeweisse isn’t hugely different from their normal weisse. So, not the most Christmassy beer by a long chalk.

Anchor Steam’s Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2013 certainly gets into the spirit of the season. It has some spice and liquorice. It is a little thinner than you would expect from a ‘winter warmer’ but it’s not bad at all.

Dungarvan’s Coffee and Oatmeal Stout is their ‘Winter Brew’. The Flahavan’s oats make this one a real smoothie. The coffee gives it a pleasing bitterness. One to savour on a cold evening sitting by an open fire.

Despite the name Wychwood’s Bah Humbug may actually be the most Christmassy of all of the beers here! It’s a red ale with some clove flavours. Very pleasant indeed. I even had some Christmas cake with it and the two went well together. Cake and beer, sure what more could anyone ask for?
One small note, apart from the Erdinger none of the above beers should be drank straight from the fridge, trust me on that one!

Bah Humbug is definitely one of my favourite Xmas beers this year.
