It’s time for me to tidy up my assortment of glassware as it’s taking over the kitchen presses! ( Cupboards for non Irish people) So I reckoned it was as good a time as any to, show off, document some of my collection.
These are from the amazing Augustiner beerhall in Salzburg, Austria and Schneider Weisse, Germany via The Malt House, Athlone!

Tumblers, I use these for Pale Ales mostly. These are all American, the three on the right are from brewpubs.
More tumblers, the All Ireland one has 1/3 pint line on it, which is always useful on tasting expeditions.
Beer mugs, also useful for coffee, tea and large hot whiskeys!
Tulip style glasses, these are very versatile, most beers taste good from these. Heck most beers taste good full stop but these enhance the experience.
Belgian goblets, beer always tastes special from these, they make a person feel somewhat regal.
Pint glasses, for stout, porter and ale.
I suppose everyone has a Guinness glass, I quite like this one.
Small glasses, great for when you’re sharing a beer.
These glasses are all a bit different, I love the Bo Bristle logo.
And last but not least, the most recent addition, a proper IPA glass! There are hard and fast rules when it comes to beer glasses but feel free to ignore them. I think the main thing is to be able to smell the beer. You don’t get the aroma when drinking straight from a bottle or a can!
And you question my acquisition of 50 lighters?
Well, both collections would appear excessive to the untrained eye!
MrsPhil would beg to differ. However my growing “beer appropriate glass” meant that she got out the ‘good’ wine glasses that have been in the cupboard. I’ve been telling her they’re not treasures and now we’re using them.
Until one breaks and then it’ll be back to the cheap more disposable ones.
As to the IPA glass, they are a thing of beauty and are quite durable.
Ha, what’s good for the goose etc! I’m glad to hear that about the IPA glass as well!
