Moate Beer Club in Don’s

image

Last night Athlone Beer Club moved to Moate. Don had ordered in a rake of new craft beers for us to try. We kicked off with our local friends Bo Bristle and had their Pilsner which is on draught. The perfect beer to begin any evening.

There was a great turn out of Moate beer fans which I was delighted with.

Trouble Brewing’s Fuzzy Logic was next on the list. I actually liked it from the bottle better than the keg.

I reckon Martin Dolan liked it as well!

We kept it Irish for the next one with Bru Bàn which is made with good homegrown malt.

This tasting was being taken very seriously indeed.

Next we had the Bru Autumn Ale, which I still think is more of a Christmas beer, Wayne aka Irish Beer Snob agreed.

Then it was time to hit the N17 for some of that lovely Rye Ale.

We stuck with Rye Ale for the next one, Eight Degrees Simcoe Rye Ale. I wasn’t alone in liking the Simcoe hops in this beer!

We had the Bru MÃēr next for a change of pace. It’s a very pleasant Saison.

Next we had the very seasonal Rogue Hazelnut Brown Ale.

We kept it Stateside for the final beer of the night with Kentucky’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Ale. Moate’s Thomas Collins works for Alltech so we have some local ties to this fine beer. It was a fitting conclusion to the evening. We were all in great if giddy form. Thanks to everyone who travelled to the meet up including Wayne Beer Snob. Thanks to the Moate massive for your support and the biggest thanks of all to Don and Lisa for getting in all of the lovely beer and being great hosts!
