Oktoberfest, Dublin 2014

I went along to Dublin’s Oktoberfest last Saturday. It was a sunny Autumn afternoon and perfect for drinking beer outdoors. There was a huge crowd who were all getting into the spirit of the occasion with a few who had even donned lederhosen. There was a great variety of traditional German foods to choose from, including pork knuckle. Unfortunately I was rather full after consuming this excellent burger in Bunsen earlier.

I went in the short que for a beer and gulped when I was asked for €34 for two litres. I know €10 of that was a deposit for the (plastic) glasses but still. And the choices were limited to Erdinger Weissebier or Fischers Hell. I was really hoping for something a little more seasonal or even the Dunkel on draught. These might seem like petty complaints as everyone seemed to be having lots of fun. Do you get proper glasses in Munich?

  1. The Beer Nut says:

You certainly do get proper glasses in Munich. Also: draught weissbier by the litre is an abomination. Imagine going to Germany and finding an “Irish” beer festival where they serve stout in shot glasses. It’s just wrong.

  2. I really want a burger from Bunsen looking at that picture!
