Going to Bloom in Dublin’s Phoenix Park has become something of a family tradition, I stopped complaining about the horticultural festival when I discovered that you could get decent beer at it! While the kids were getting their faces painted I strolled barward and had a glass of the rather great 60 Knots from Galway Hooker.
Unfortunately that meant the subtle flavours of O’Hara’s new single hop Sorachi Ace IPA were a little wasted on me. I’m definitely going to have to try that one again with a clean palate.
Rascal’s Wunderbar is brewed with Mandarin Bavaria and Hallertau hops and has a wealth of mango fruitiness. Perfect summer beer.
I said I’d try something different after three IPAs and Metalman’s Heatsink, a Smoked Chilli Porter was definitely something different. Tasty! Sadly that was all I was able to fit in, I had hoped to return to the Bloom Inn but time was against us. If you fancy heading along it’s on tomorrow, Monday June 1st, I would recommend going early as it took us an hour to get parked. Sláinte!
