Myself and my lovely wife arrived quite late to the party in Smyth’s last night. Luckily there was just time for me to grab the last juicy burger and my wife loved Arthur Smyth’s lemon chicken. He dodged sharing his recipe though. With food in one hand I felt a little unbalanced and I was delighted to see there was some of the special Bo Bristle Dunkel left. It is Oktoberfest time after all!
I also had some Kulchie from O’Cleirigh’s, poured from the piano as is traditional. Breffni displayed his multi instrumental talents when he joined the band on the cajon later in the evening.
I also enjoyed Jack Cody’s Lazy Eye IPA and Kelly’s Mountain Brew Revolution Red. I finished up our too short evening with a Chocolate Stout from James Brown and a chat with the man himself. He works nearly as hard as his namesake used to! It was good to catch up with Sonovagun, Shane Smith and of course the Dunnes (aka Irish Beer Snobs ) and the Guilfoyles. There was a great atmosphere and I’m already looking forward to the next event. Sláinte!
