A Blackguard or Blaggard is an old Irish word used to describe someone bad, a rogue. It can now be used in a more light hearted (sorry) fashion; ‘Go away out of that ya blaggard!’, accompanied with a grin. Munster Brewery’s Blackguard is an unfiltered lager and not a stout or porter as you may have expected. I’ve read mixed reviews of this beer and either the brewery has gotten better at making it or I’m missing something because it tastes pretty good to me! It’s definitely not bland and it was refreshing enough while being fairly malt heavy. Worth giving a chance.
A Blackguard from Munster!
