The Malt House took delivery of Galway Hooker Irish Stout yesterday. I was in there for one about an hour after I heard. I’ve had it before but it wasn’t widely available, a few months ago the Hooker brewery moved to a large new premises in Oranmore and they asked on Facebook what people would like to see from them. One of my requests was that they would produce more of their stout. I’m pretty sure that they didn’t do it just to keep me happy! It’s nicely full bodied and has a sexy chocolate taste. I got a bottle for my Dad who was on Designated Dessie duties for the evening and he drank it at home. He said it reminded him of the porter from forty years ago. Sadly he has now grown more accustomed to the creamy headed black stuff and missed that so I’ve sent him off to a beer re education camp in Siberia. He’ll thank me for it later, in about a year when he gets back and the frostbite has worn off. If you’re looking for a real beer that you can taste get your ass down to The Malt House tonight and call for a bottle of Galway Hooker Irish Stout.
Ps: can we get it on draft soon please?
