We took a small detour off the N6 on our way home from Galway today. The Arch Bar was the reason for our diversion. I’d heard they had a decent selection of Irish Craft Beer, and I wasn’t disappointed. Joe, one of the proprietors gave us a warm welcome.
I started off with a glass of Lon Dubh Stout which went down nicely.
My wife who was driving, as usual, she has the patience of a saint, had a cider from Stonewell.
At 1.5% the Tobairin wouldn’t affect anyone’s driving too much.
I had a Bo Bristle IPA after that while we chatted and Ciaran, the chef, gave us some samples of the sauces made with chilies grown locally by Liam, another of the proprietors. We both really liked the strawberry sauce, which I’d imagine would go well with pork. A couple of them had a fair bit of a kick. It was a pleasant way to pass an hour, and I’d recommend you call in the next time you’re on the road to or from Galway. Sláinte!
