Last night Athlone Beer Club met in The Malt House once again. McGargle’s Liam Tutty kindly gave us some samples of new recipe Cousin Rosie Pale Ale and Francis’ Big Bangin’ IPA to try.
To be honest I liked Cousin Rosie anyway and didn’t discern a massive difference between the new and old recipe. I’m going to have to taste them side by side! The assembled throng all gave her the thumbs up. A great session beer.
Some of us went for a pint of Wicklow Wolf’s Elevation Pale Ale after that. Another perfect beer for quaffage.
Then we went for Rosie’s cousin Francis. The Big Bangin’ was described by The Crafty Hoor as ‘nicely hoppy but not too bitter’. I think that about sums it up, a fantastic beer. And I’m not just saying that because we got a few samples!
I went for a Jack The Lad from Reel Deel to finish off the evening, and it did the job nicely.
Thanks to everyone who came along and to Liam McGargle and the lovely people at The Malt House. Sláinte!
It all helps if the odd one is paid for by the brewer!
One good thing about Ireland’s size is that it’s relatively easy to get to know most of ’em!
You certainly seem to give it your best shot! All power to your elbow!
