The Athlone Beer Club trip to Donegal made a stop in Sligo to pick up one of our crew. He recommended The Swagman for lunch. Myself, my wife and Rob arrived first. We didn’t want to be rude and order food but we reckoned a few scoops would be alright. We started with Rogue’s Brutal IPA, it’s a big beer to kick off with but I don’t remember seeing it on draft before!
The Cider Correspondent opted for a glass of Red Back Cider. Which she enjoyed.
Tom arrived and we ordered some food. He’s one of them vegans you may have heard of but we accept all types in the Club. He looks almost carnivorous as he tucks into his roast vegetable curry.
Myself and Rob went for the more traditional burgers and the Cider Correspondent had fish and chips. We all cleaned our plates.
We had a few pints of Fuller’s ESB with the grub, far more sensible for daytime drinking. I really liked The Swagman and hope to check out some of Sligo’s other pubs on the way home.
