Aloha from Kona

My neighbour and drinking buddy John returned from a trip to Oakland laden down with Kona beer and pork jerky. He was good enough to share some of both with me. We started off with the Big Wave Golden Ale. T’is very easy drink and would make a good session beer. I’ve had beef jerky before of course but I didn’t even know that pork jerky existed! The Krave Sweet Teriyaki was great with the beer, I suspect it contains addictive substances.

Next we shared a Fire Rock Pale Ale. This has Galena, Cascade and Mount Hood hops and I liked it a lot.

With the first packet of jerky polished off we opened the Black Cherry Barbecue, it’s good but I preferred the Teriyaki.

To finish our mini tasting session we had Castaway IPA. This one is dry hopped for a flavour kick. Galaxy, Citra, Simcoe and Millennium are all in the mix. Lovely beer.

…and tonight I had the Longboard Island Lager with some pork fried rice just to keep that pork theme going. It’s a pretty smooth beer and went well with the grub. Mahalo!
