Burn’s Night 2016

Our local craft butchers couldn’t supply chicken livers until today so we postponed our haggis dinner. I have seen it served a few different ways recently but we went with the traditional Neeps and Tatties again. My wife is on one of them diets which means I sort of am as well, at least at dinner time. So this is a version of haggis made with oats, chicken livers, bacon and minced beef. Somewhat less traditional. It was very tasty all the same. Just yesterday a kind Scots Irish couple gave me a gift of a bottle of Innis and Gunn to enjoy with my meal and it was just the thing. I read aloud To A Mouse, On Turning Her Up In Her Nest With The Plough. I suspect Mr Burns may have been a Buddhist in another life. I might have a wee dram of whisky later on in the evening. Sláinte.

As a Canadian I say better you than me with the haggis. But the meal looks great otherwise lol.
