Good Friday and the small matter of being best man at a wedding mean that there won’t be an Athlone Beer Club meet at the end of March. But take heart my friends, for I have something very special lined up for you. We are going to head out to The Chalets in Killinure and have a barbecue! Soulwater, the hippest young gun slingers from the wild west, eh, Galway are going to bring kegs of their Mutiny IPA and Renegade American Amber to the Midlands for the first time!
‘When?’ I hear you asking. Well, after some negotiations with various parties it’s going to be Monday the 4th of April at 7pm. The Chalets allows byob so if there’s a special beer you would like to share with the club, by all means bring it along.
Food is €16.50 per person and this includes: half a strip loin steak, chicken, ribs, salmon parcels, hot dogs, potato salad, mixed green salad, baked potato and garlic bread! If you need a full steak it’s €22, but I’d say most of us will have plenty in half a steak.
On a somewhat related note, would any of you be interested in Athlone Beer Club polos/t-shirts?
It promises to be a great night, I will be creating a Facebook event as usual so let me know there, or here, or on Twitter if you will be attending.
I also have begun the process of planning Midlands Craft Beer Festival 2016 so stay tuned for more. Sláinte!
