A fellow Moate blow in was up in his native Donegal and he called up to our friends from Kinnegar Brewing and procured a bottle of the lesser spotted Brownknowe for me. This particular special is a Brown Kettle Sour. Somehow this beer made it in to my fridge which was probably a bad idea. Luckily I had a conveniently located open fire to let it warm by. When it was cold I got very little from it, but as the temperature rose so did the aroma and flavour. It had rather pleasant raisin and cherry like notes. ( Can I say that without sounding like a pretentious tosser? ) I liked the slightly sour flavour in the finish. It’s something different from one of the best breweries on this island. Pick it up if you see it. Sláinte!
