The Great Irish Beer Festival preview

The Great Irish Beer Festival kicks off in Cork City Hall at 4pm Thursday. The Beer Nut reminded me yesterday that there was a festival that went by the same name back in Galway in 2007. He remembered it rather more fondly than me. Jog your memory. I have somewhat higher hopes for this weekend. Myself and another handsome few lads will be manning the McGargles bar.

I am hoping to find some time to check out the other stands including Yellow Belly who are bringing some sour cask type things. Black Donkey are also bringing a special sour and I’m looking forward to trying West Cork Brewing’s beers for the first time. Other exhibitors include Torc, Reel Deel, Trouble Brewing, Stonewell Cider, Stone Barrel, Rising Sons, Rascal’s, Mountain Man, O Brother, Metalman and Galway Bay. Of course I can’t forget Franciscan Well who are hosting the whole shindig. The music line up is really strong with local legends The Frank And Walters as well as Crow Black Chicken and King Kong Company headlining. I’ll be bouncing around the place! See you there for a beer and a chat. Sláinte!
