My Dad and myself went on a bit of a road trip today to County Louth where we collected a play house for my children. On our way back I plotted a course that included a stop in Trim to visit renowned Off Licence The Wine House. I thought it was only fair that we pick up a few beers and wines as a reward for our efforts. There’s a chalkboard outside that promises Craft Beer heaven and a Beoir sticker in the door. All of the signs were good. When I got inside the craft beers weren’t immediately apparent. But wait… what was this doorway at the back of the shop? It was a magical portal that lead to a small but perfectly formed room that housed a brilliant selection of craft beers from Ireland and abroad.
Alan, the manager was a genial host and he was happy to point out new arrivals and beers that he thought I might not have had. We had a great chat and he was telling me about their ‘Gentleman’s Club’ which takes place on the first Friday of the month in the adjoining Malt House pub. Brew expert Dean Clarke aka Beer Padawan is going to be at the May meeting. Sounds like a good night out if you are in the Meath area. Here’s a snapshot of what came home with me, I hope I can come up with an excuse to visit again soon!
