A sneak peek at the special beers for #ICBF14: Bo Bristle

Dave from Bo Bristle invited me around to his last night to try two of the specials they’ll be pouring this weekend. I couldn’t possibly refuse. The first was a 7.7% Double IPA. There will be a few of these at the festival so make sure you get a half of each if your a hop head. This one has a rake of hops and it smells gorgeous. Very good beer.

Next we had an Imperial Red Ale. This is something a little bit different. It looks beautiful. It’s very clear for an unfiltered beer. The hops are not as noticeable in this one but they’re still present and correct. This is very easy drink but it’s 7% so again I’m recommending a half. The biggest pour of one of these beers at the festival is only two thirds of a pint anyway. You want to be able to remember what you had at the end of the day! Aidan Sweeney gave some good advice over on his brewsinternational.com about attending beer festivals so I won’t harp on about it too much, just go and read his post!

Anyway, definitely stop by the Bo Bristle stand and try one or both of these. If you’re only trying one my tip is the Imperial Red. The festival opens in the RDS tomorrow evening and runs for four days. I’ll be there Saturday. Thanks Dave for sharing those with me. Sláinte!
