Last week I told you about the parcel of Italian beer and food I received from Ufuud. I managed to polish off the rest of it since and it was no hardship! We had a leg of lamb for dinner on Easter Sunday and the Ticinencis Rossa from La Morosina made a perfect accompaniment. It’s a Belgian Dubbel style beer and the slight sweetness worked superbly with the meat. It was also compatible with the fresh fruit meringue I had for dessert but I forgot to take a picture of it!
Last night my wife prepared a delicious dinner with the salami and pasta which I had also ordered. She made carbonara with an authentic Italian recipe. A lot of Irish people would add cream but that’s a big no no!
I enjoyed the food with my penultimate Italian artisan beer: Volpina from Birra Amarcord. It’s a caramelly malty amber and while it went well with the food I’d say it would be even more drinkable on it’s own.
The last of the beers was Verdi Imperial Stout from Birra Del Ducato. It was a robust chocolatey stout that at 8.5% was a real sipper. We spent an hour enjoying each other’s company and the chili kept it dry and interesting. Fantastic beer.
If you’d like to order any of these great beers and a bit of food to enjoy with them you can do so here:

* as I mentioned last week, I was given a voucher to try out Ufuud’s service, but the above is my honest opinion.
