Pearls before swine and a nitrogen bomb!

I fancied some stout this evening. Is it just me or do you have to be in the mood for stout? First I had the Flying Dog Oyster Stout. It was kind of like having surf and turf as I was eating steak at the same time. This definitely is not suitable for vegans (see yesterday’s post) but at least it’s clear why! It’s a very light silky feeling stout and goes down very easily. I would be happy to drink it again.

Left Hand Brewing Company’s Milk Stout Nitro was next on the menu. I had it with the far less palatable ‘arranging to pay property tax for next year’. Luckily the beer was very good. It uses a similar idea to Guinness’ draft in a can but doesn’t need a widget and it tastes way better. To get the head on this one you basically upend the bottle into the glass, ‘pour hard’ as the instructions on the cap say. It’s made with some milk sugar and flaked oats so unsurprisingly enough it’s fierce smooth altogether! There’s a great coffee smell and taste as well. A great beer to drink at home.

(I’m not implying any of you are swine by the way I just enjoy the phrase!)
