English Beer & Irish Food, works for me!

Coddle is a traditional Dublin dish. It’s kind of a sausage stew. The fact that the sausages are boiled means that some people don’t like the look of coddle but I say to those people, try it you might like it! What else would you drink with a meal like this but…. an English Ale! I had a Bateman’s XXXB. It’s described as a Pale Ale but I would call it a Red Bitter. It’s very good and there is some pepper in the mix which means it goes really well with the grub.

The label notes that ‘This is a VEGAN beer’ and on another section that it ‘goes well with cheese and meat’, which kind of undoes all of that veganism.

Later in the evening I had another Bateman’s beer, their Victory Ale. It’s described as a strong ale but at 6% I wouldn’t say it would blow anyone away. The taste is sadly a little bland so the XXXB is the one I’d recommend.
