My love for red ales continues to grow. Unsurprisingly enough Brown Paper Bag Project’s Big Red does nothing to dampen my ardour. The manner in which it was launched a couple of months ago was very clever. Redheads were treated to a free beer in Galway’s Salt House. Everyone else had to pay! It’s an Imperial Red Ale that’s dark red in colour with a big cream head. It’s as juicy as if you got lovely fresh strawberries and it’s got some bitterness as if you drizzled some balsamic vinegar over the fruit. It doesn’t tear up the rule book like some of the Brown Paper Bag beers but it’s a very good take on an Irish classic style.
