Ale from Scotland and Stout from Wales

On my recent visit to Deveney’s, Dundrum I intended to just pick up a few cans of Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale, funnily enough I didn’t stick to my original intention. One of the ‘extras’ that came home with me was Landslide from Scotland’s Fyne Ales. It’s an English Brown Ale that’s hopped like an American Brown Ale. Confused yet? It’s malty and hoppy in equal measure and it wouldn’t frighten any beer aficionado. Decent.

Tiny Rebel from Wales produce Dirty Stop Out which is a Smoked Oat Stout. This beer has a solid reputation and I’m happy to report it lives up to it. It says on the bottle:

I have to disagree. It’s only 5% and while complex enough it remains very drinkable. So it doesn’t remind me of a heavy night out, at least not after one bottle! Lovely stout.
