Poachers and Pipers: A Pair of Pale Ales from Carrig

image

Carrig Brewing Company up in Carrick On Shannon recently launched two Pale Ales. You may ask why they’d double up like that, but there is method to their madness. The Pipers Pale Ale has hops from New Zealand. The hops are pleasingly citrussy and they are well balanced by some caramel malt. Decent beer.

Poachers Pale Ale on the other hand features ‘aromatic American hops’. I have to say I liked this one! It’s got some of that classic West Coast flavour. I am a bit curious as to what the respective hops are but it seems to be a secret. I’ll have to give the brewery a shout and ask in person! So for the weekend you should pick up a Poachers!
