I was in McCambridge’s, Galway on Sunday. The kids shared a rather creamy hot chocolate while I checked out the beer fridges. I thought it appropriate to pick up a bottle of new local brew Independent’s Connemara Cascade American Pale Ale. The beer is a hop cocktail including a new hop from Australia called Melba along with Magnum and, of course, Cascade. The end result is an excellent Pale Ale, it’s citrussy and refreshing. I did find it a bit hard to get the beer to form much of a head but it was sufficiently carbonated as not to be flat. I had it with a Thai Red Curry and it wasn’t a bad combination. Pick one up, you won’t regret it. Sláinte!
