A quick slow Belgian Tripel

image

Tripel Karmeliet is and Abbey beer brewed by Brouwerij Bosteels. Apparently the recipe dates back as far as 1679, this incarnation is being made since 1996.
Three grains are used in the brew; wheats, oats and barley. The beer smells pleasant and fruity. The bubbles tingled on my tongue like sherbert. The lingering taste was a mixture of lemons and bananas. It’s a strong beer but the Belgian’s have a knack for making an 8% beer taste an awful lot lighter than they you’d be expecting.
I took my time drinking this and it was a rewarding experience.
