Stag. Westport. Messy.
It started off reasonably well in the very civilised surroundings of McGing’s. There’s no television which makes for a good start, you can actually have a chat while enjoying your beer. They have West Mayo Brewery’s Clew Bay Sunset on draught so a few of us opted for that.
Keeping it relatively local I had an Irish Blond from Crossmolina’s Reel Deel next.
And the Mayo trinity was completed with Mescan’s Blond.
…later that evening we were in The Clock Tavern where I had a Westporter Stout from Mescan, I thought it was very reasonably priced at €4.70!
It’s great to see a lot of Westport’s pubs stocking local beer. Sadly I didn’t finish the night in one of those pubs!
Around Midday we were able to find time for a swift half outside the Wyatt Hotel which had West Mayo’s Clifford’s Connaught Champion on tap. Sunday afternoon beers in the sun, a perfect way to conclude our trip. Sláinte!
